A meeting of Durham County ARES is now planned for Wednesday February 26, 2014 from 7 - 8:30pm at Parkwood Volunteer Fire Department Station #1:
On the agenda for 2/26/2014:
Are there other items which should be on the agenda? If so, let me know.
I was downloading some applications for my XYL's Nook, and noted that the Radio Reference website, which offers live streaming feeds from scanners/communications receivers, now offers Central Carolina Skywarn, namely the 146.880 Mhz repeater out of Raleigh, and the Tarheel Emergency Net which is on HF. You may have to download a "media player" to play the streaming audio, but its free and easy to get to listening to these groups, as well as your local public safety frequencies via your computer or mobile device. Go To www.radioreference.com and search North Carolina to obtain the streaming content.
Help is need for Net Control Operators for our Thursday Evening ARES Net. If you are interested in helping out, The 1st, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of the month at open for NCO help. Its a great opportunity to learn Net Control and gain experience with Net Operations for when we have an need to assist our community, we'll have more than a few operators available.
