Below is our traditional script. For the past few months we have been doing a joint DC ARES and DFMA Club Net at 8pm Thursdays on the 147.225+. For a tentative script for that, click on the following link.

Durham County ARES Information Net Script (Revised January 2011)

5 MINUTES BEFORE NET:
This is {your callsign}. A Durham County ARES net will begin in 5 minutes on this repeater. If you need to make an urgent call, please do so at this time.

Net Preamble

At 8:30 PM ET:
This is {your callsign} Calling a Durham County ARES net, calling a Durham County ARES net. Again this is { your call sign phonetically }and my name is { your name}.

(If located other than home ) I’m located this evening at __________________.

This net meets each Thursday evening at 8:30 PM ET on the WR4AGC 147.225 MHz repeater, through the courtesy of the Durham FM Association. All radio amateurs are welcome to use this open repeater when it is not occupied by net operations.


Brief pause

This is a directed net and is part of the ARRL field organization. The purpose of this net is to practice net operations and provide timely information about activities related to Durham Co. ARES.

You do not have to be a member of Durham Co ARES or a resident of Durham Co to participate and All are invited to join in tonight and visit us online at www.dfma.org/ares

Brief pause

When checking in give net control's call sign {your callsign phonetically}, pause and listen briefly to avoid doubling, and then give your call sign phonetically, your first name and your location.

Any stations having emergency, priority or time-valued traffic, please check-in now, this is net control {your callsign}.

If there is any traffic, allow traffic to pass and then resume the rest of the net when control is returned to you.

Any Tarheel Emergency Net or NTS Liaison Station, Section Officer, District or Neighboring County EC please check-in now, this is net control {your callsign}.

If any, acknowledge all stations and then have them give their traffic in the order in which they checked in.

Net Control will now accept check-ins from any short-time or portable stations, and stations on emergency power. Check-in at this time, by calling net control {your callsign}

Net Control will now continue taking check-ins by the first letter of your call sign suffix ;

Any stations with a call sign suffix Alpha through Golf, please call net control {your callsign}.

If any, acknowledge all stations and then have them give their announcements in the order in which they checked in.

If no ARES topics for discussion may do informal discussion , but prefer to hold informal discussions on DFMA Club net which follows ARES Net at 9PM weekly.
